RESTORING BALANCE TO THE INTESTINES

Probiotics are a great way to restore balance to your gastrointestinal tract.  They restore the flora, or bacterial balance, that will improve your intestinal wall integrity.

You will need to find a good Probiotic.  There are many on the market so you will need to be astute, in what you are looking for.  Here is what you want to be in your probiotic supplement.

  • Acidophilus

We all seem to reach for Acidophilus when we think of Probiotics, but the Bifidobacterium bacterias are also very important to the whole probiotic dose.  One needs to be sure that you have exactly what your body needs.

How will I know what probiotics I need?

Researching the computer is easy, quick, and full of good information. You know your body better than anyone else, so using discernment will be important.

There are what is termed as gut–building herbs.  These herbs strengthen, soothe, coat, and astringe the intestinal wall.

Below are the names of some that you might find helpful.  Most people benefit tremendously from herbal supplementation.

  • Tienchi Ginseng, Gotu Cola, and Licorice, are membrane strengthening herbs.  The Licorice is not candy, by the way.
  • Slippery Elm is a mucilaginous herb that helps to soothe and coat the inflamed intestinal lining.
  • Cornus and Schizandra will help to astringe the intestinal lining.

By using Probiotics and herbal supplementation, you may find yourself feeling much better, and having regular bowel movements.

As we become older, our bodily needs begin to change.  It is just a fact of life.  To help the GI tract out by taking some enzymes before we eat would even be a good idea.  This way the food is partially digested, before it gets to the GI tract, making its work more efficient.

When we are young, the acids in our stomach are strong, and all is well.   As we age, these secretions do not always present themselves in the amounts needed, so giving ourselves a little help, by using enzymes, as well as probiotics, may become necessary.

We need to remember that a healthy GI tract is the very foundation of good health.
