Where can I find this herb called tumeric?
Fresh, organic tumeric can be found in many Farmer’s Markets. There are two kinds, however. One type is orange in color and the other is more yellow. Opt for the orange one and try to get organic, if possible. Gently scrape the skin off, chop off a piece about 1/2 ” long, and grate it. Then you can put it into anything you wish.
Alone it is quite bitter, so putting it in some kind of beverage, yogurt, etc. seems to work the best for me.
Once you start using tumeric on a regular basis, it’s fun to find new ways to use it in recipes. My favorite way to use tumeric, is to add a pinch of it to egg salad. It adds a nice flavor and gives the egg salad a rich yellow hue.
